FCC – N. Calif. provides sponsorship of various organizations helping orphans in China. We have provided you an update on some of our recent orphan assistance programs.

Love Without Boundaries Cleft Medical Exchange

FCC – N. Calif. funds raised from the Sacramento Chinese New Year party helped three year old Freddie to receive an important cleft palate surgery. As a newborn, he was a resident at the Anhui Healing Home and had his cleft lip surgery there before he entered LWB’s foster care program. Because an issue was found with this paperwork in order to make it possible for him to be adopted, LWB went ahead with a cleft palate surgery now.

Freddie is a child described as energetic, athletic and curious. He enjoys playing with friends. Currently, he is speaking in short sentences, but is hard to understand because of his open palate. Having his cleft palate repaired gives him the hope of being able to speak correctly and to do well in school.

Many other children received important cleft surgeries as well. Click here to see the link to view the updates of other children positively impacted during LWB’s Cleft Medical Exchange 2014. Hats off to Maureen Brogan Gealey R.N. of Ft. Bragg who organized and led this wonderful cleft exchange, and to Chris Ingoldsby of Marin who went along as a volunteer aide and baby holder.

Anhui Healing Home – sponsored by Love Without Boundaries

FCC – N. Calif. is a monthly sponsor of two beds in the Anhui Healing Home. The home currently has 10 beds in a comfortable home-like environment. They accept babies who have intensive care needs from orphanages throughout Anhui province. The two children we recently sponsored were Linda and Maureen.

Linda is an eleven month old shy little girl with heart disease. She is very attached to her nannies, yet she knows how to make her needs known through her screams of displeasure. She enjoys using her walker to get around. We will continue to sponsor Linda till she is well enough to move onto a foster family.

Maureen is ten months old and has a cleft lip with tongue deformity. The staff describe her as a sweet and easy going little girl who loves to sing, yet she can also be somewhat timid. As of the May report, she had been working on strengthening her neck and trunk muscles as well as her legs. In fact, Maureen has progressed so much that she has graduated from the Anhui Healing Home and is now being cared for in a foster family of her own.

Because Maureen has graduated, our sponsorship will now be transferred to Stacy who is an extremely tiny preemie in need of lots of sleep and help in gaining strength. She is noted as starting to smile and interact with her nannies. More updates to come.
